"Chicago Daily Tribune" [Chicago, Cook Co., IL] 1 Sep 1941: Charles Sumner Pingry. Charles Sumner Pingry, pioneer resident and hotel owner of Crystal Lake, died in his apartment in the Pingry hotel there yesterday. He was 85 years old. He was born in a log cabin four miles east of the town in 1856 and took over the management of the Pingry hotel from his father in 1889. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Crystal Lake. Surviving are his widow, Josephine; two daughters, Lillian Gorham and Miss Mabel Pingry, both of Chicago, and a son Charles. _________ Note: Charles Sumner Pingry [known as Sumner] married Josephine Hartquest 31 Jan 1882, McHenry Co., IL.
