I am very interested in your list of orphans from the New York Asslum,my ggrandmother states on the 1900 MT census that she is from the New york Foundling Assylum and she has no idea of her age nor her parents just NEW YORK is all she knows. Her name is Laura Ellsworth Britton B:abt 1862 New York.Later in a book her daughter (my grandma Jessie)says that Laura was born about 1862 and was from Kankakee,Illinois,I do know my grandma Jessie said she had an aunt in Illinois in the early 1960's.I have had someone check and it may of been you but all they came up with is Britton,William L in Illinois.I do come up with two Laura Brittons about the right age but one was married and our family knows nothing of Laura's life before Montana. And the other isn't well known so I am so very unsure.
