It looks like its been 8 years since this posting, but here goes. Your Grandmother was my aunt Ev. Ev was my mom's sister. My mother was or (Dorothy). Only part of the information is correct. Great grandpa John(1846) came over with his family R or H Meister (father- 1816) Agatha (mother-1818) and two sisters, Mary (1848?) and Anna(1854) about 1850. All were from the Kingdom of Saxony Germany (Baden) In the 1860 census they are all listed in New York. In 1870 it shows John and Caroline with Mary with them. I don't know what happened to the rest of the family.
Grandpa died in 1939. Lillian died in Nov 1919 from child birth (Uncle Doug.) I think both John Christian and Lewis were both born in Illinois, but I'll have to check. Uncle John died here in 1979 in his 90s. I know Uncle Lewis left here after his parents were both gone (Great Grandpa John in 1928 and Caroline Magers in 1933?) both in South Moran, Spokane County, WA. All, accept Uncle Lewis are buried at Riverside/Greenwood Memorial Cemetary in Spokane. John and Caroline came to Washington on a land-grant he got from service in the Civil War. (25 acres) They leased much of it to neighbors to raise wheat. They had a small orchard and a big house. All three sons came with them. (Caroline had 8 but only 3 lived) Only Frank had a family. We visited as kids and picked the fruit. They sold a mattress factory in Chicago and moved west. Lillian Louise and Frank Marcus had six kids: Mom, Ethel and Douglas were born here. (making 9) Frank Meister never lived in California. The other children were Frank, Honore, Helen, Howard, Jeanette, Evelyn) I just started working on this stuff, so if you have lots of new things to give me, I would appreciate it.
