Thanks, Dick.

I can't seem to find Archibald (or Archie) Payne in the 1910 or 1920 census. I've searched for his name, his mom's name (both as Ethel Long and Ethel Payne), and his various brothers and sisters. I've used the alternative spelling of "Paine", again to no avail. Since the 1930 Census mentions family members birth places as being Illinois, Ohio, Kentuck and Virginia, I've been looking in those states. There are a few Archie Paynes out there, but none of them seem to be the correct one.

The closest I've come is finding a 13 year old boy who is boarding in the Frank Knight household in Carroll Township, Vermilion County, Illinois in 1920. However he seems too young, (Archie Payne in the 1930 census was 28, he should have been 18 in the 1920 census)his birth place is wrong: Indiana, and his parents birth places are switched: his father is mentioned as being born in Kentucky and his mother in Virginia, instead of visa-versa. So I don't think this is him either.

If I follow the census record you gave me, Archibald Payne was probably married in 1921, since he is listed as being married for 9 years in 1930. I would like to find this marriage record.

Thanks again - Robert
