I am trying to find out where the parent's of my Dad's Grandmother, Martha Ann Steele Wilson Hawthorne were. I have been told they are Hugh Steele and Sarah Smith, but in my researching all I keep coming up with is one of the children of Hugh and Sarah is a "M.A." born Nov. 10, 1845, which is her birthdate but I can't find anything that actually shows her given name is Martha Ann. My Gr Grandmother was born in St. Claire, Illinois on Nov. 10, 1845. She first married a John Wilson and had 2 boys, Clyde and John Quincy by him. They divorced about 1860 as he went to Alton Prison. In 1862 she married my Gr Grandfather William J. Hawthorne and they had several more children. The later moved and remained in St. Joseph, MO. and are both buried there.
