I don't think Mary is Wesley's daughter. After looking at marriage and census records, this is what I see. 04 Oct 1849 - Sarah Harmon married John P. Becker, Randolph Co., IL, Family Tree Marriage Records CD #228. 1850 - A lot of Harmon or Harman families in Randolph Co., IL in 1850 & 1860 census years. Cannot find a John or Sara/Sarah Becker in Randolph Co. in 1850, but do find a couple that would "fit", residing in Livingston, Clark Co., IL in 1850. 07/01/1854 - H. T. G. "Hindlebilor" married Mrs. Sarah Becker in Randolph Co., IL. These are transcribed records at the Illinois State Archives, and mistakes are made in reading them, very easy to read a W as an H. I'd want to view the microfilm of the originals at an LDS Family History Center. 1860 census W. T. G. Henderlight, 39; Sarah, 28; Sarah E., 2; Mary B., 10; John W., 5. It was not uncommon for a child born previous to a marriage to go by the name of the second husband, even be married under his name, and never any papers filed for name change. 1870 - enumerated as W. G. F. Henderlight. Mary is clearly listed as Mary Becker, but the rest of the children's names are written under her's in such a way as to look like their surnames were Becker also. No one else in the family has a middle name written out, Becker must be her last name. 1880 - head of HH is Sarah Henderlight, widow. Mary and John are not in the household anymore, but Daniel Harmon, age 35, is listed as Sarah's brother. This ties in the Becker/Harmon marriage and the fact that W. T. G. Henderlite married a woman who was previously married. 1900 - Sarah Henderlite is still head of the household with two adult sons, a dau-in-law, and grandaughter living with her. 1910 - Alva is listed as head of the HH, with Sarah and his brother Frank still in the home. Notice that it says Sarah has her own income. I'd not be surprised to find that Sarah owns the farm, but because of her age, Alva is now in charge. If you have the family Bible notations, you probably have the date that Sarah died. I'd want to find the probate records for both Wesley and Sarah. Check with the LDS to see if they are on microfilm. If you don't have access to these census records, let me know. I have no ties to these families. Notify Administrator about this message?
