Richard,From anything I have been able to find concerning the father of Solomon (b. 1790-1800) and siblings Peter, Thomas and Mary Ann, there is no close connection to the Pennsylvania Imes line.Solomon's father spelled his name Iams (no second "i" or "j"), and according to son Thomas and grandson Harmon, was going to southeastern Ohio from South Carolina when he died on the journey.Harmon, probably quoting his father, wrote that grandfather Iams had served seven years in the Revolutionary War, but gave no further data. The spelling "Imes" for our last name seems to have been adopted by Thomas and his family about 1845-1850.I understand all Imes family members, regardless of spelling, are related through their descent from William Eyams (b. before 1640 in England) and his wife Elizabeth Cheyney in Maryland.William, in turn, claimed descent from Robert I'Ans, Master of Ordinance to Queen Elizabeth and Privy Councillor to Ireland for Her Majesty.
