Shield, Lear and John Imes

I am searching for information about my great-grand parents to determine how my family fits into the Imes family pedigree puzzle. Their names were Shield and Lear Imes. I believe they were from North Carolina or Pennsylvania.

If you have any info about my grandfather John (Edward?) Imes (prob born late 1800's) from North Carolina and or Pennsylvania. I would greatly appreciate any assistance you could give me. They don't appear to fit into any of the existing family trees that I know of [Anne Arundel cty MD or Juniata Cty PA].
