Anyone interested.

Good morning (evening here in New Zealand).
I've discovered this site through surfing and found it fascinating. There are Impsons in Britain, South Africa, Australia and little old New Zealand (pop. 3.8m) but it seems by far the greatest number are in the US. I'd like to hear from anyone who has traced their roots back to the UK, especially East Anglia or Norwich. I would be grateful if you could help to explain how the name Impson became a surname. I understand it was orriginally Empson but someone mis-spelt it when registering a birth. Best wishes from picturesque, sunny New Zealand (the world in miniature).
