I just found the database at the Friends of Allen Co Public Library for applications for Naturalization in the county from 1844-1906, so I checked for my KELLY and KELLEY relatives. I did find several entries for John Kelly, and one each for Timothy Kelley and Timothy Kelly. Now that I've found the book and page numbers for these declarations filed, I'm wondering if it is worthwhile to get a copy of the actual document.
What I am wondering: does the actual declaration document show any more info than the library database shows (name, date of dec, age, pt of embarkation and arrival, date of arrival)? Obviously, w a common name like John Kelly, I'd like to see if there is any additional identifying info so I can figure out which entry is MY John Kelly!!
If anyone else has actually looked at these declaration pages (mine mostly are around 1868-1870) and can tell me what is included in the info, I'd appreciate the help.
