Joseph & Mary Jane Newton Craig - lived in co. 1860-1862

I am looking for information on Joseph Craig (wife was Mary Jane Newton) who lived in Bartholomew County (Elizabethtown area) around 1860-1862. He and his wife moved there from Preble County, Ohio shortly after the census was taken in 1860. Their third child, Lydia Miranda Craig, was born in Bartholomew County in November of 1861. According to family lore, Joseph had an accident and died about 1861-62. His wife then moved back to the Preble County, Ohio area and married Samuel Morrow. Does anyone know where Joseph might be buried, when he died, or if he and his wife owned any land. Would there have been a guardianship for the children? Could she have left the area before any guardianship was to be recorded? Any help in this matter would be very much appreciated. I have spent several years checking out the area of Indiana (Dearborne County) near Elizabethtown, Ohio to no avail. Now I find out that I have been looking in the wrong place. I hope this is the correct place and that someone can help. Thanks in advance.

Debbie
