From Clerk's Office in Blackford County Indiana Will Book Volume A 1851-1895 page 12 August the 11th AD 1851 A Will Jeremiah Lockett of Blackford County in the state of Indiana do make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all other wills by me at any time heretofore made. First: I direct that my body be decently interred and that my funeral be conducted in a manner corresponding with my estate and situation in life and to such worldly Estate as it has pleased God to entrust me with, I dispose of the same in the following manner to wit: I direct first that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon after my deceased as possible out of the first moneys that shall come to the hands of my Executor from any portion of my estate, real or personal. I also direct that Edmund Lockett my elder son, be possessed of my real & personal property and the said Edmund Lockett shall pay to Lydia Palmer my eldest daughter the sum of one hundred dollars at the expiration of two years from my death. The said Edmund Lockett shall pay to each of my other children the sum of one hundred dollars seventy as they become twenty one years of age and the said Edmund Lockett shall maintain my beloved wife as remains my widow. And I hereby make and ordain my worthy and esteemed son Edmund Lockett executor of the last will and testament. In ?????? where of I Jeremiah Lockett the testator have heretofore set my hand and seal this (5th) fifth of June in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred & fifty one, this is to certify that I have subscribed my name to this second sheet. Proof of Will State of Indiana Ss: Blackford County Personally appeared in open Court at the August Term A.D. 1851, Edward Hughes, John Baily two of the subscribing witnesses to last will and testament of Jeremiah Lockett and after being duley sworn on their oaths said that they were present at the time of the executing the will and that the will was duly executed that the testator at the time of executing the same was of full age to devise his property and of full age, sound mind and memory.
