Most Indiana birth/death records did not start before 1882. However I would suggest, you write to Putnam Co, Indiana, there could be marriage record for them. Usually these are called Marriage Supplementals. These give birth of the couple, their birth place, names of parents and their birth place. The regular marriage records does not show this.
