Some of my relatives were listed as orphans in some paper work I found. Can any one tell me if their were any orphanages in place during the early 1820-1850's. I am researching the surname CROSLOW. While I can find the family there in the 1860's have not been able to place them anywhere before this time.
Any help is appreciated.
