I am nearing my wit's end trying to figure out who Lillie Creech was. "Index of Crawford County, Indiana, Marriages 1818-1955" privately printed by Ivan Noblitt 1957-58 (copy in the Crawford County court house) says Lillie CREECH m.27 Nov 1897 Columbus Wright. C.C. Wright was son of Nathan Wright and Jane Goldman. But I cannot find any clue to Lillie's identity! There were two Creech families in Crawford County: Elijah and Louisa Creech and their descendants, and an as yet unknown William Creech b.1872 who married a couple times beginning in 1890, had several children and went to Illinois just before 1930. 1900-1920 censuses for Crawford County show that Lillie (Creech) Wright was b.11-1878 Indiana. She apparently died between 1920-30 as her children moved out of state and she wasn't among them. Lillie Wright is not identified by her first name and approximate death year on the 1930 census in the event she remarried; she is not listed on the Crawford County Kentuckiana cemetery lists though she might not have had a stone. She lived in Ohio Township on all the censuses. It is conceivable that she was living with someone else on the 1880 census as a little girl which didn't show her by a different last name and there are a number of Lillies and Lilys in and around Crawford County 1880 in her age range. Or she could have been listed by a first name other than Lillie making her unidentifiable because she never used an initial on a census as an adult. And it is also possible that she was briefly married to a Creech before marrying C.C. Wright though she would have been quite young. Is anyone familiar with any of these people? Can anyone give me a clue to Lillie's identity? There weren't many Creeches in Indiana and they've all been accounted for over the years, but someone could have married, had a child or two and died or divorced between censuses. There were some Creaths, Creshes, etc. Was her last name a recording error? Does anyone have any idea when she died so that I might try to find a death certificate? I really am at a dead-end on Lillie. Notify Administrator about this message?
