I am trying to find family of Lawrence McMahel (son of James S. McMahel & Rebecca Jennings) and Nancy Ella Kellems.
Lawrence was born 1838 Ky; married Nancy in Crawford Co.,Ind. 22 Jul 1858.
They had 8 known children:
1) Benoni 1859 2) Wm Albert 1863 3)Lorenzo 1865 4) John w. 1866 5)Arzella 1868 6) Louisa 1875 7)Charles 1877 8) Maggie 1880
Benoni may have been born in Crawford County, but it is believed that the rest were born in Perry County (Doolitte Mills).
Lawrence mcMahel died in Perry Co. 12 Dec 1881 and is buried at Foster Ridge Cemetery.
I am hoping to find a family member that can verify that Nancy Ella Kellems was the daughter of John William Kellems & Mary Ann Golden of Crawford Co., Indiana. Mary Ann was a daughter of Thomas L. & Mary Golden.
The Nancy Kellems that Lawrence married was born about Sep. 1844 which would match the time frame of John & Mary Ann's marriage.
What complicates matter is that John appears to have remarried to a Sarah Jane Stewart on 13 Sep 1849 in Dubois Co (perhaps divorcing Mary Ann).
Can anybody help with this branch of the McMahel family providing information on Nancy Ella's origins?
Nancy Ella McMcMahel remarried to a man named Campbell in Perry County after Lawrence's death. She died 4 Jul 1910 and is also buried in Foster Cemetery.
