Probate index?

Does anyonek now whether the court house has an index on probates for the year 1944 and a few years after?
It's too late for the WPA index, but perhaps the courthouse itself has indexes in their probate books.

I'm particularly interested in Lewis Albert Harding. He died in Indianapolis in 1944, but his roots (and one survivor) were in Salt Creek Twp. The other survivor, unfortunately, was in Indianapolis, and I've found nothing online to give me help with the Marion Co. courthouse. In fact, the courthouse states it will not do genealogy research, so I do hope the probate was in Greensburg. I have Lewis's obit from Greensburg and INdianapolis. I just need to have the book number, etc. for Lewis's will.
