Lewis Albert Harding, well known attorney, educator, and author in Decatur Co. was married in June 1919 in Spokane, Spokane Co., WA to Inez Daugherty. He and his wife were together on the 1920 census for Spokane. He was an attorney with a private practice. Between 1920 and 1922, they lived together, according to the city directories for Spokane. Then they separated and Lewis apparently went to the state of Louisiana. By 1929 he was in Indianapolis. By 1929, Inez had remarried. She was found with Ralph Mackey, but some of her census information was wrong. She claimed it was her first marriage. No children were with them on the 1930 census. By 1963, she was married to James Parker Moore of Opportunity, WA. This is her obit. *********************************************************** Spokesman Review, 22 Sep. 1974, p. Sports 11. Burial at Riverside Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Washington State Heart Association, 321 Hufton Building, Spokane, 99204 ************************************************************ You can see that she did have a son by Lewis Harding, a son named George W. Harding. I have not located him to date. She had 2 grandchildren. The girl may have been a child to George Harding. The boy, however, is a puzzle. He has a surname that is different from what was expected. Perhaps the "twin daughters" in Lewis Albert Harding's obit was really twins, a son and a daughter. And she died before her mother. Another thought, they both may have been step-grandchildren. At any rate, I want to thank John Ballard for his interest in this search.
