Hi, in a quick search, I know that Dr. Nathaniel Lewis of Clarksburg, died on a Thursday, Feb 3,1874 , he was about 80 years old, and was one of the early settlers in Decatur County, he was buried in Springhill cemt, but his tombstone either is missing on he never had one put up, my records show only his wife with a stone. She died Feb.18,1864 at age 66 years 9 months and 7 days. there are several Lewis families in this county, also Dr. Lewis brought the first Sunday school library to this county in 1823.
I also found a Obit for a N. Moreland Lewis , a son , who was born on April 23,1833 and died in Indianapolis,Indiana on Sept.20,1887, he left one brother James Lewis, and two sisters, Mrs. Dr. Howard also of Indianapolis & Mrs.Mahala Burns of Greensburg.from Saturday Review Oct. 8,1887 ( James Lewis, died in Council Bluffs, Iowa on May 29th,1903,from Greensburg Standard, June 12,1903), I hope this helps you out a little,
Russell Wilhoit,
Decatur County Genealogist
