Hi Ron, George Washington Boss, Born- Apr 27,1831, died Feb.11,1867, he is buried in Mowrey Cemt, in Clay twp, Decatur county.
He bought land from Wm. M. Douglas of Benton County, Iowa for $450.00 on Jan. 1866, He was listed as living at that time also in Benton County,Iowa, this land was from Leander F. Douglass estate. I think the town he was living in was Vinton, in Benton County, Iowa.
Drusilla Fletcher was appointed guardian of said minors,
Argues? O.Boss age 8 years on Feb.27,1868, Ernest W.Boss,age 6 years on August 4,1868, Ulyssus Grant Boss, age 4 years on Aug, 11,1868 and George W. Boss age 1 year on March 4,1868.
I found nothing else on this name in this county, and nothing that says he was from New York. I hope this helps a little,
