Hello cousin! I am very sorry not to have been aware of your message for so long. Evidently our host did not notify me of it. But I really should have checked this board sometime! in the last two years. You are welcome to email me.
Anyhow I have made some progress. You are correct about the Zimmermans. Ashland Co. was evidently a stop along the way from Fayette Co.,PA. I believe the McNalls were from Ashland Co., but maybe they all travelled together from PA.?
William McNall b.abt. 1867 married Caroline Zimmerman, Elias' sister.
Are you familiar with Dr.Carey's book History of Spencerville?
Census 1850 shows Rhuben Hawk living in Summit Co OH, with his bithplace and his wife's PA. (She was Mary Rhoads, daughter of Abraham and Elizabeth.) Several Hawk children, all born OH.
Rhuben died 1856. James Mathias went to live with Rhodes relatives in DeKalb Co.
