I'm searching for information to share on a family named Brotherton who migrated to Delaware County, Indiana by 1900. Specifically, James R. Brotherton- b.1870 & his sister Margaret "Maggie" Brotherton Leibfried- b. 1865 both came to Center Twp, Delaware Co. by 1900 from Coles County, Illinois but their parents originally came from New York, first to Vigo County, Indiana, then to Coles County, Illinois. James R. Brotherton married Mary Jennie Moore and had children Margaret "Maggie" who married Charles KNOTTS. This family was living at Muncie by 1930 with children Robert-1914 & Delores-1916. James also had child Merle or Murel ? -b.1896 who married wife Pearl. They had children Harold-1917, Lois-1919, Raymond 1926 & Leona -1930. Merle moved to Randolph County, Indiana by 1920. James R. had two other Brotherton children who I've not been able to track: Fred & Florence both born between 1901-1909. Next James R. Brotherton's sister, Margaret-b.1865 first married Peter LEIBFREID. Peter apparently died by 1889. Maggie was married to Jacob HERSHEY by 1889. They also lived at Center Twp, Delaware Co, at least from 1900-1910. Believe Maggie had at least 2 children with each husband: Emma Leibfried -1883 & Frederich -1885, then Frank Hershey -1889 & Marie Hershey -1894. Appreciate any contacts about these lines- Thanks, Allan Griffith, Bloomington, IL - magrif@verizon.net
