Hi
I am researching the family of David and Jane LYKINS/LIKINS etc. David was b. in Va and d. in Delaware Co. IN.
Per: History of Delaware County, Indiana 1881 pgs 264-265
Refering to Mount Zion Methodist Episcopal Church... "Harvey Reed and David Lykins, Stewards" Then on the next page talking about the Richwood Post Office it says that it " is a small hamlet in the west part of the township {Monroe Township}. There is a store at this point, kept by David Lykins; Elias Good is the Postmaster and toll-gate keeper, and David Lykins Jr., has the blacksmith shop." "The County store, built and kept by 'Uncle Davy' Lykins, had a long room upstairs which was used as a meeting place for a lodge. The building burned in 1909 and was never rebuilt."

I have a great deal of information on this family (can ALWAYS use more) that I am willing to exchange. I am especially interested in his decendants...

David is a decendant of Peter Nilsson LYCON 1640 - 1692.
The first mention of Peter Nilsson Lycon in New Sweden is in 1671 when Peter was working for Armegot Printz at her Printztorp plantation on Upland Creek (now Delaware Co., Pennsylvania). It is not known when Peter and his brother Michael arrived in America.
According to Peter Stebbins Craig in "The 1693 Census of the Swedes on the Delaware" (1993), it is possible that they came from Lyckan, Gunnarskog Parish, Varmland,Sweden. Craig states, "Lyckan, meaning 'a clearing in the woods' or 'a glen' was a common suffix in other Swedish place-names in Varmland and elsewhere."

Thanks
Tom
