Obituary of Mrs Barbara KAUFFMAN of Elkhart Co, IN

Mrs Barbara KAUFFMAN was born in Switzerland, 15 July 1826, died 26 Feb 1899, age 73 y, 7 m, and 11 days. She emigrated to this country with her husband and his relatives in 1853, settling in Ashland county, Ohio. In 1858, Mr and Mrs KAUFFMAN came to Elkhart county, Clinton township, near Germany shool {sic, school} house where they lived the reminder of their lives. Mr. KAUFFMAN died in 1865, she remaining his widow. To this union 6 children were born, 2 of which preceeded them to the brighter shore. She was baptized in her youth and died in the Mennonite faith. Funeral services were held at the Mennonite church north of town, Rev. John Garber of Topeka officiating.
