Jackson Twp was formed in 1830, is located in the extreme se section of Fountain Co. & the territory was originally part of Cain Twp. The only town in Jackson twp is Wallace, which was platted on Sept. 25, 1832 by John & Henry Bowman, from their land. The post office was established during the term of office of Governor Wallace, thus changing the town's name to Wallace. The first school of Jackson Twp was founded in 1840. Buffalo School, Morgan School, Germany School, Gray's School, Wallace School, Bowers or Freedom School, FROG POND SCHOOL, & Livengood School were the names of the first schools in the area.
