HELLO HARRIS RESEARCHERS, I am in possession of several letters written by WILLIAM BARTON HARRIS 1829-1871. He wrote them to his 2nd wife, JULIA ANN RHINESMITH HARRIS during his service in the CIVIL WAR. I have transcribed these letters and will be glad to share them with anyone who asks. I will e-mail them, so post your e-mail address. Unfortunately, they are not in good enough shape any longer to be scanned, so the transcriptions are of his original writing, incorrect spellings and all, as accurately as possible.

I also have a set of Identification Tags, nearly unreadable now, that state they were issued by the US Christian Commission, that state his name is WM. BARTON HARRIS, Co. E. Indiana Volunteer, 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, 4th Corp. On the bottom of the tag it says " God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believe in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. On the back it says Address: my wife, JULIA HARRIS, Rochester, Fulton County, Indiana. The bottom of the back side says, suspend from your neck by a cord, and over the shirt, in a battle, under.
