I am currently researching my direct lineage through the Maxwell line. My GGGrandfather's name was Simon Maxwell and he lived in Grant County, Indiana according to the 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880 census records. He lived in towns such as Pleasant, Sims, and Franklin. Simon Maxwell was born in June 29, 1823 in Ohio. He married a "Mahala" between 1845-49. They had 5 children that I know of: Nancy, Samuel, James, Edward, and William. Between 1870 and 1880..Mahala must have died, because Simon married again to Mary Elizabeth Sutton b. 1851 in Indiana. They had 5 children as well: Lyolide, David, George, Sarah (my GGrandmother) and Lola. Mary Elizabeth died before 1890 and I believe the children to given up to Orphan Home since Simon could not take care of them. Does any of this sound familiar to you? If so, let's talk. Thanks.
