Beth - I'd be interested in anything that you find out! I have done a lot of research - I'm actually researching Little Orphant Annie for a book. This would include Mary Alice Gray, the Riley poem, the comic strip character, the Radio Show, and the movies and TV programs. I want to be as thorough as possible in all of my research. And that would include - Anna Kiefer's claim to the "Annie" title. So any info would be helpful. I knew that Anna Kiefer was buried somewhere in Park Cemetery, but I didn't know that her headstone had any mention of her "Orphan Annie" claim to fame. Ironically, I have been out to the Philadelphia Church Cemetery, located on the south side of U.S. 40 - west of Greenfield. This cemetery is where Mary Alice Gray is buried. Her headstone also has a special plaque that tells about her "Orphan Annie" claim to fame - as well as a historical marker. You can go to the "Find-a-Grave" website to see the markers at Mary Alice's gravesite: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Gray&GScid=197188&GRid=11636232& Unfortunately, I didn't find anything on that website for Anna Kiefer in Park Cemetery. Of course, that doesn't mean anything - it just means that no one has gone out and documented the burials in Park Cemetery for the Find-a-Grave website. Let me know of any info that you might find on Anna Kiefer - or anything else regarding Little Orphan Annie.
