I am looking for the parents of my great grandmother ALICE VANLANINGHAM b abt 1856 in Indiana; she married CORNELIUS CLEARY around April 21, 1874 in Henry County, IN (I have a copy of their marriage license); Their children were MARY b abt 1877 in IN, ROBERT b abt 1878 in Knightstown, IN, and BERTHA b 3 January 1883 in Knightstown, IN (Bertha was my grandmother);
I have been unable to determine who ALICE's father was. I believe her mother's name was BARBARA or BASHABA ANDERSON b about 1832 in IND whose parents were GEORGE W ANDERSON b abt 1799 in KY and LUCY ? b 1802 in KY;
I located the family on the 1870 FC in Cambridge, Wayne County, IN (Page 41)(369/369): VALLANDINGHAM, Barbara (f) age 38 (1832) IN; Alice (f) age 12 (1858); and George (m) age 6 (1864) IN; living next door to Thomas Anderson age 32 (1838);
Found on 1880 FC - Knightstown, Henry County, IN (Pg 29):
298/307 CLAREY, Cornelius (head) age 25 (1855) Ire/Ire/Ire; ALICE (wife) age 23 (1857) IN/IN/IN; Mary (dau) age 3 (1877) IN/Ire/IN; and Robert (son) age 2 (1878) IN/Ire/IN;
living next door to George Anderson and his daughter B Valendingham as follows:
297/308 Anderson, George E (head) age 81 (1799) KY/VA/VA; VALENDINGHAM, B (dau) age 49 (1831) IN/KY/KY; George (g-s) age 16 (1864) IN/IN/IN; Lena (g-d) age 9 (1871) IN/IN/IN
My grandfather CORNELIUS CLEARY died on March 23, 1883 in Knightstown, Henry County, IN; cause of death boiler explosion; At some point between 1883 and 1900 my great grandmother Alice and her children moved to Sedalia, Pettis County, MO.
