I am looking for more information on the family of Finley Virges Anderson (AKA Fin) (B. 28 Dec 1872 -- D. Oct 1939). Finley was born in Indiana, likely around Henry County, but it appears from census records that he spent most of his life in Frankfort, Marshall, Kansas, and likely died there.
His mother Mary Jane (Jennie) Cottrell Anderson Cottrell (B. 13 Jul 1851 -- D. 12 Feb 1918) was born in Indiana but also lived in Frankfort, Kansas, and died there. Jennie was a granddauhter of Steven Cottrell and Rhoda An Wright of Virginia and Indiana.
Fin's father was John Evan Anderson of Henry, Indiana. John and Mary Jane were married in Ohio (?) 1 Sep 1867). John is said to be a brother of Miles Anderson, a son of Hugh Anderson, and grandson of Ephriam Anderson, all of Henry, Indiana.
Fin's sisters, Harriet Adelaide (Hattie) Anderson Cottrell (Mrs. Moses Alspaugh) and Laura Lena Anderson Cottrell (Mrs. Marion Russell Ewing), were born in Indiana (likely around Mechanicsburg (Henry County. Indiana) and then lived in Marshall and Jewell Counties (Kansas) around the turn of the century before migrating to Idaho and California, respectively.
The confused Anderson/Cottrell names are partly due to Mary Jane's divorce from John and her remarriage to a cousin, James Cottrell. John also remarried. We believe he married a Kate. They had a son named Russel. We believe he died in Xenia, Greene, Ohio, but I don't have confirmation.
I believe that Finley was married to Kate Burk. The children of Fin and Kate were James (B. abt 1908) and Fred (B abt 1912), all three of the latter, born in Kansas.
