Christine, Through my research it appears that the Indiana School for the Deaf (called Indiana State School for the Deaf at the time) was the only public school in Indiana at the turn of the century. It is located in Indianapolis. This school still exists and here is the website: http://www.deafhoosiers.com/ Go to the following link which is the 1909 edition of the Indiana Magazine of History. http://books.google.com/books?id=X50KAAAAIAAJ&pg=PA110&dq=indiana+state+school+for+the+deaf You will see that in 1909 this was the only deaf school supported by the State of Indiana. Hope this helps! Stu Notify Administrator about this message?
