Three of the children of Elisha Langley and Frances "Fanny" Torr married Carters from Jackson Co., Indiana, and we would like to learn about their families.

Martha Carter (Parents unknown)
b. abt. 1815 - of Jackson Co., Ind.
md. 4 May 1835 - Jackson Co., Ind.
Husband: Samuel Langley (Son of Elisha Langley)
b. 1809 - Muhlenberg Co., Kentucky

Mathew Carter (Son of McKinney and Rachel____Carter)
b. about 1805 - East Tennessee
md. 25 Feb 1825 - Jackson Co., Indiana
Husband: Allie Langley (Dau. of Elisha Langley)
b. 1810 - Muhlenberg Co., Kentucky

Susannah Carter (Parents unknown)
b. abt. 1804/5 - Virginia
md. 9 July 1929 - Schuyler County, Illinois
Husband: Joseph Langley (Son of Elisha Langley)
b. 1804 - Pennsylvania or New Jersey

The only two Carters listed in the 1830 Census for Jackson County were McKinney Carter (father of Mathew Carter who married Allie Langley) and a Thomas W. Carter who might be the brother of McKinney Carter. (Either McKinney or Thomas W. could be the father of the other two Carters who married Elisha's children.)

We'd also like to know more about the parents of John Thompson born 1795 in Kentucky who married Elisha's oldest daugther, Elizabeth Langley 24 Dec 1835 in Jackson Co. Apparently John Thompson was an attorney in Jackson Co.--and subsequently a minister in the United Presbyterian Church after they moved to Hancock County, Illinois.

***********************************************************
Elisha Langley named Henry Boaz of Jackson County, Indiana as the administer of his estate, and Mr. Boaz helped Elisha's widow, Frances ("Fanny") Torr Langley through some legal strugglees after Elisha's death. I don't know if he was related in some way because we still have several unidentified relatives who appear on various censuses.
