Our greatgrandmother Sarah "Sadie" Elizabeth Leak, married our gr-grandfather Calvin A. Page in 1884, and the famil then lived in the Winamac then Francisville areas of Pulaski county Indiana. We can find absolutely not documents telling just when and where Calvin died, but land office and town meeting records indicate that he was living in either Francisville or Wheatfield of Jasper county when he died, probably on or about 22 or 23 March 1895, but possibly between 26May1893 and 23Apr1895.

We really need help on finding when and where he died and was buried. He was a builder and somewhat of an architect, and the family story is that he had sunstroke and fell off of a roof and died. It doesn't appear that Sadie had any more children after her first marriage to our Calvin Page.

Some time after Calvin's death Sadie married John Saylor of Wheatfield, Jasper county, around 1895-1890. John Saylor and "Elizabeth" and her kids by Calvin Page are in the 1900 Wheatfield, Jasper County IN census, but we have yet to find any record of her marriage to Saylor. We have no idea when or what happened to John Saylor after 1910, but our grandmother Florence Page Saylor thought well enough of him to use the last name Saylor almost all her life, even though her father was Calvin Page.

Sadie later married a Frank E. Fisher of Jasper County, probably between 1911 and 1920, but possibly anytime between 1901 and 1931. Her 1933 Virgie, Jasper county obituary (20-Jul-1933 issue of Evening Republican) says she and Frank had lived in Virgie for some years.

Although she died while visiting her daughter in Danville IL, the obit says she was buried in Fair Oaks Cemetery, in Fair Oaks, near Virgie, south of Wheatfield. Although civil records on this pair seem almost non-existant, we did manage to find Jasper county death records of a Frank Fisher and a Sarah E. Fisher, and also some type of cemetery list or funeral record that indicated that there were persons of approximately those names buried in Fair Oaks cemetery. The researcher also found a Frank J. Fisher (J not F) listed in the Jackson Funeral Home Directory (in Fair Oaks or Virgie I think) We still have no good documents however. My next effort is to learn what churches were in the Virgie-Fair Oaks-Kniman areas in the 1900-1930 period, and search those records.

I recently discovered a death index record on a Frank Fisher who died in Jasper county on 13-Sep-1930 at the age of 72, which showed his father's name was Franklin Fisher and his mother's name as (not shown), Jasper County, Book D-11, page 50. We don't yet know if this is the right Frank Fisher for us, but our Sadie was 70 at the time of this 72 year old Frank's death, so it seems to be a good match.

There also was a widowed Frank Fisher (or Fischer?) of the right age living only a page or two away from John Saylor in that 1900 Wheatfield census. For a long time this Frank seemed to me to be an excellent candidate to have been our Sadie's last husband. Sadie probably met this Frank Fisher neighbor while she was living with John Saylor. However, one of our wonderful Indiana researchers found a record that seems to pretty well prove this particular Frank could not have been Sadie's husband.

I think the researcher found that he re-married someone else about the time he should have been married to our Sadie, or maybe he died, I forget at the moment. But I am not yet 100% convinced that there were two or more Frank Fishers living in or near Wheatfield.

My gr-grandmother was born a Leak, so her full name at the time of her death would have been Sarah "Sadie" Elizabeth Leak Page Saylor Fisher (or Fischer). One relative remembers as a little girl helping to sew a wedding dress for Sadie, getting ready for Sadie's marriage to a person she remembers as "Mr. Ball". So there could be yet another name, probably positioned between Saylor and Fisher. Our ancestors and relatives on our grandpa's side (Kotlowski, Klinger and Lakowski)lived in or near Wheatfield about 1898 or earlier to 1911. Grandpa Frank R. Klinger married Sadie's daughter, Florence Maud Page ("Saylor")in 1902 while at Wheatfield.

We welcome any details or feedback from anyone on the above people.
