Need Lookup for Wayne Scott death date (abt 1904)

Chauncy Cardinal was tried for murder in 1904 of Wayne Scott. I need the date of death for Wayne Scott so that I can find out more information about the murder trial. The two young men were either in Dupont, Indiana, or Shelby Township---near Madison. The Madison newspapers are missing for 1904 and there is no death listed right in the city of Madison. Chauncy Cardinal died in 1958.
