There was a Thompson family and a White family who migrated at or near the same time from South Carolina to Shelby Co. Ky and finally to Johnson & Bartholomew Cos. in Indiana. These 2 families were closely related through multiple marriages. I’m seeking information on a James N. Thompson who I suspect has ties to these families. There was a James N. Thompson who married Polly McCannon on 8/30/1830 in Shelby Co., Ky. I believe Polly’s birth name was actually Mary McCammon and she was the daughter of Samuel McCammon. I also believe that soon after their marriage, James N. & Polly moved to Johnson Co., Indiana. There was a James N. Thompson who in 1831 purchased 80 acres of land in Johnson Co. The property was located near other Thompsons and Whites who came to Indiana from Shelby Co., Ky in the early 1830’s. In the land records I found that on 12/15/1832 James N. Thompson & wife Mary sold 40 acres to William Thompson of Bartholomew Co and on 10/28/1833 the same couple sold 40 acres to Nancy White. William Thompson and Nancy White are part of the previously mentioned Thompson and White families. These facts lead me to suspect James N. has ties to these same families. I have not yet found any other records for James. If I’ve correctly identified his wife as Mary McCammon, then James must have died sometime prior to 1845 for in July of that year, Mary (aka Polly) married John True. Info of any kind on either James N. Thompson or Polly (aka Mary) McCammon would be greatly appreciated. I’m looking for any tidbit that will help link (or not link) James to other Thompsons on my family tree. Notify Administrator about this message?
