Zelek McQuinn of Shelby Co. Ky and Johnson Co. IN had a daughter Katherine who married a John Thompson. I’m trying to determine if that John Thompson is related to the Thompson family that migrated from South Carolina to Shelby Co., Ky and finally to Johnson Co., IN.
I have very little information on either John or Katherine. Based on the ages of Zelek’s other children, I’m guessing both were born in the 1790’s, most likely in South Carolina or Kentucky. In the Woodford Co. Ky records, there’s a listing for a marriage on 2-16-1812 between a John Thompson & a Kitty McGuinn. Though I have no proof this is the correct couple, my gut instinct says it is. My only other clue comes from the probate records filed after Zelek’s death in 1849. At that time, John & Katherine were still living in Ky.
Info of any kind on this couple would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully, someone will be able to help me prove or disprove a connection to other Thompsons on my family tree.
