Hi Nathan, I am no relation at all to this family but I thought I'd lend you a hand anyway. I might list info you already know but this is what I found: Ernest Bubenzer married Mary Weitzel on 3 Oct 1867 in Knox Co., IN. They had 12 children: Ernest, Elizabeth(Mrs. August Strate), John, Wilhelmina (Mrs. William Schulte), Christian, Gustavus, William, Mary Gertrude (Mrs. Charles A. Pielemeier) and 4 others that had died by age 10. Ernest died 12 Sep 1891 at St. Louis, MO. Now, there is a Gustavus Bubenzer who was a physician in Rome, Perry Co., IN that I believe was Ernest's older brother. He married a Mary Belle Hall in Perry Co. on 10 Mar 1866. Gustavus was born abt. 1840 in Germany. There was also a Christian Bubenzer in Louisiana in the mid to late 1800s that was a wealthy plantation owner who possibly could have been an older brother as well. Haven't been able to find much on him though. There was also an Amelia Bubenzer that married in Knox Co. IN, in 1867, I believe, to a C. Folley who I think is the baby sister. My reasoning as to why I think they are Ernest's brothers and sister is because I found a ship's list that has a Bubenzer family listed and they must be your family. According to the list, the family of Johann Bubenzer arrived in New Orleans, LA, on the ship Johann Smidt, on 17 Nov 1848. The port of departure was Antwerp, Belgium. Johann Bubenzer age 43 Wilhelmina 27 Gustave 8 Christian 6 Ernest ? couldn't make out last 2 ages Emilia ? I've not been able to find Johann or family on the 1850 or 1860 census at all so who knows how the names were listed. Hope some of this helps you! Andrea Notify Administrator about this message?
