Thanks, Deb! It was after I found the Branch County History that I started looking in Indiana for the brothers and sister, and 1840 was the magic year. The Cummings in Indiana by 1850 weren't the given names I was looking for (Major, and William) and they might have been offspring, but earlier censuses didn't show given names.

If anyone knows what happened to the Cummings brothers in LaGrange (who would have been around 70 by 1850) I'd love to know.
