Miscellaneous Wills for Lake County, Indiana
Northwest Indiana Genealogical Society has added an index of Miscellaneous Wills to their website.
The Indiana State Archives has microfilmed many Lake County Court records for preservation. However, by law, individual researchers are not allowed to view the microfilms at the Archives because the records are considered the property of Lake County. The Northwest Indiana Genealogical Society hopes to make these microfilmed records of Lake County more accessible to the researcher for their use in locating a record of their ancestors. The lake County Clerks office has very kindly given their permission for the Society to purchase these films for donation to the Lake County Public Library. The microfilmed records will be available for viewing in the Periodicals Room of the Lake County Public Library in Merrillville, Indiana. The Society has place the index on their website at www.rootsweb.ancestry.com~innwigs
