A friend of mine has a picture of two young men, taken at the Bennett Photographic Studio in Indianapolis, IN, back in 1897. The names of the two men are identified on the back of the photo as having been William GALTON and Horace MONTGOMERY. Both of the young men have on football uniforms and one is holding a football.
I searched the census records for information on these two and found that at the time the picture was taken, they were both pupils at the Indiana Institution for the Education of the Deaf, that was located here on the eastside of Indianapolis. Horace E MONTGOMERY's age was listed as 18 years and his DOB: was February 1882. William C. GALTON's age was listed as 20 years and his DOB: was December 1879.
There are also two younger females listed in the 1900 census, that appear to be sisters of William C. GALTON. Their information is as follows:
Elsie N. GALTON 17 yrs DOB: Dec 1882
Minnie D. GALTON 13 yrs DOB: Feb 1887
Anyone having any knowledge of either of these young men and would like to have this photo, email me at my listed email address and I will be more than happy to send it along to you.
