I do have some databases that can have more of a "historical value" so I thought I'd look there for you.
I thought there were a few interesting items...

William Ide, son of Thomas, b. July 1799 lived in Saratoga Co NY. Had son Reuben by 2nd wife. Again, does not seem like yours)

Howard County once part of the Indian Reserve owned by the Miami Indians
East: Grant County, South Hamilton County and West Clinton and Carroll counties and north Cass and Miami.
Portion of reserve was attached to Miami County, another protion with a stripp off of Hamilton County, forms Tipton County and the portion between Tipton and Miami counties formed Howard County. Howard County formed 1843-44, organized under the name of Richardville.
Kokomo county seat, deeded 1844 to County Commissioners.
