if you apply, you'll want:
Federal Military Pension Application - Civil War and Later Complete File NATF 85D
I will warn you, when I wrote about obtaining a copy, I thought the price still ran around $40 +-
apparently it's been raised and now they are charging $75.00 for it...
There is another packet that one can order " Federal Military Pension Applications - Pension Documents Packet (NATF 85B)" that is $25, but it's only 8 items "that contain genealogical information about the pension applicant". However, it used to be that they picked and chose what was copied and many times it was found that folks got more info by getting the full file than these few pages.
