Hi,

The 1900 census shows her parents as R. H. & "Velisha" B. Hypes. Both are shown to be white. R. H. (Sep 1859) & his mother born in Indiana, father in Virginia. "Velisha" B. (Jan 1862) born in Indiana, parents in Kentucky. Here's their marriage record.......

I assume the below Hypes census is in error, showing the childrens mother's birthplace as KY. On the Indiana Marriage Index, I see a John Hypes marrying a Mary Ann Adams, 21 Jan 1855, in Hendricks.
