My Grandmother is Hazel Bell Polley . She was one of seven children orphaned when her parents Wilburn Polley and Lauretta Hendricks(Lol) died in the 1918 flu epidemic. I have a copy of their marriage liscence in Greene County, Indiana in 1899. I also have a copy of a marriage certificate for Catherine Wall and Benjamin Polley in Monroe County, Indiana in 1874. I also have a copy of imformation from the 1880 census in Elletville, Indiana(Richland Township)Monroe County.Living in the house was: Alexander Wall(age 58), Mary A. Wall ( age37) Both born in KY. also Mary F. Wall (17) Thomas J. Wall(19) (shoemaker) Catherine J. Polley (25) widowed or divorced. Wilburn Polley (1 year)son of Catherine J. Polley. It also says his birthdate is 1-26-1879. Although my grandmother never spoke of it, my Great aunt Lucy(Sue) told my uncle that her fathers mother was from the Cherokee Indian nation. This could have been because she was older when the parents died and the children were all split among the family to raise. Most of them in Lobster Valley, OR. I know back in the old days they didn't want it to be known if there were any Indian blood. Maybe this was the secret. I'm pretty sure we are cousins. I had a Great Uncle George in Sebastepool. My mother is Joanne Adams Hazel's daughterates. Notify Administrator about this message?
