J.T. helped settled the Sugar Creek Township around 1825 with other Showalters. He ran a business part woolen mill, part foundry and part machine shop. Henry Showalter grew up to be a Harness maker. Benjamin Showalter grew up and left Wabash County before his twenty second birthday and moved over to Logansport in Cass County Indiana[1] around 1879. Benjamin had learned the trade of plating metal, probably from his grand father J.T. Logansport has had a long-standing tradition as a transportation center so there was a need for foundry support. THE PRICES OF CASS COUNTY INDIANA John R Price hails from Virginia and immigrated to Cass County Indiana in 1840[1] while indentured to John Murphy. John was a saddler. In 1845 John bought two forty acre parcels of land in Cass County. Around 1845 John met Susana Jane of Logansport and they married around 1848. John & Susana had 4 children. (Elmer may have be the illegitimate son of Benjamin and Nellie Mahoney of Peoria, IL. Elmer Showalter grew up in Rock Island where he met and lived with Julie May Mullin[1].
