Many many thanks to the kind and helpful people who transcribed the Parke co. census online. I have just discovered my great great uncle and his family in Washingtown township, Parke county. Is anyone researching John and Anna (Lynn) Pinkerton who are in Washington township in the 1880 census? All I knew about him was that he had married a Lynn and died in Rockville, Indiana in 1880. This is the same year he appeared in the census, leaving I believe from the census two sons and two daughters. Also from postings on genealogical forums re Rockville, Indiana, there seems to have been a TB sanitorium there and that might be why he died young, in his 40s, and also possibly why, though the eldest son, he did not stay in Ireland to inherit the family farm near Ballymoney, co. Antrim. I have a good deal on this family, and I am myself from co. Antrim, so I have photos etc, and local knowledge. Looking forward to hearing from relatives.
