Jane Salyer (b.c. 1819 prob. Russell Co., VA d. 1889 prob. Parke Co., IN) married c. 1834 prob. Russell Co., VA to James P. Carty, sometimes referred to as John P. McCarty (b.c. 1819 prob. Russell Co., VA d. 24 Oct. 1874 Boone Co., IN). Children were: Ann (John Bunch); David "Jackson" (Margaret Jane Diel); James A.M. (Aditha Edith Bean); Rachel (James T. Trosper); Elizabeth (John J. Bumgarner); Martha (Nelson Bunch); Emiline; Jenial Harrison (male grew to adulthood and married); Edward Elbert; Wm. Franklin (Sara Ella Boone). Children born Russell Co., VA with exception of Wm. Franklin born Knox Co., KY. Family left Knox Co., Ky probably due to being Union sympathizers. They appear in Boone Co., IN about 1864. My Rachel married James T. Trosper 1858 in Knox Co., KY. They followed her father to Boone Co. a year later. Would like to learn more about Jane Salyer Carty. Cartys have appeared in Putnam, Parke, and Boone Counties. James P. Carty buried Lowery Cememtery, Jackson Twp., Jamestown, Boone Co., IN. Rachel died 1874. Searching for more "concrete" proof as to Rachel's parents. Any help, ideas, and/or suggestions appreciated. Thanks. Paula G. Herron
