I ran across your ancestor while researching the origins of William and Lucy Adams who came to Pike Cty in 1829 and who were supposedly both born in NC. They sold land to Ezekiel Green Hays and his wife Betsy in 1834. I did an ancestry search for NC in 1800 and found a good match showing an Ezekiel Hays in Granville Cty, NC as follows:

Ezekiel Hays 10010-20100

These ages appear to match your numbers. The Green middle name could refer to a mother's maiden name, too? Hope that helps.
