I am seeking information on the family of Mary Winters married to David Jacobus, son of Simon and Catherine Jacobus of Decatur Co., IN, born 1818 in OH, d. 1886, IL.
It appears from Jacobus history that David married Mary Winters 1 April 1841 in Ripley Co. Their son, Daniel, b. ca. 1849, was listed on the Ripley Co., IN mortality schedule to the 1850 USFC. After that nothing is learned of them until David Jacobus expires at his brother, James' house, in Fulton Co., IL in 1886.
I am wondering if Mary may have been related to your Margaret/Martha Winters. Do you know if the Winters migrated with others in the 1850s to IL, IA, MN or anywhere else? Thank you for any assistance. No one has learned why David was in Ripley Co., while his siblings remained in Decatur Co., then moved to IL, mainly Fulton and Tazewell Cos., IL.
