George was b. 25 Apr 1853 in Tippecanoe Co., IN s/o John W. Jamison & Prudence Wright. According to the IGI he m. 24 Dec 1876, Ruth Ann Davis in Philadelphia, d/o Isaac Davis. A Biographical History of George A Jamison <http://www.counyhistory.com/doc.benton/022.htm> notes in 1878 George went to Philadelphia where for 4 years he represented Western Publishing House of Chicago. In 1882 George returned to Tippecanoe Co. and joined his brothers in a hardware business. A Biographical Record & Portrait of Tippecanoe, IN of 1888, notes he m. Miss Ruth Davis in Tippecanoe Co., IN d/o of Isaac Davis, an earlier settler in Tippecanoe Co. WHICH RECORD IS CORRECT? My interest stems from the fact that Ruth Davis [1900-1993](my mother) was the daughter of John R. Davis [1867-1947] who was b. in Wolcott, White Co., IN s/o Joseph Ware Davis and Nancy Minerva Janes. If some kind person could look up the m. in Tippecanoe Co, & identify Ruth's father, Isaac, the question could be solved. But as it presently stands I am also looking for an Isaac Davis in Philadelphia a descendant of Abel Davis[c.1725-1790] who through descent became the owner of IRON HILL in Pencader Hundred, New Castle Co., DE. Isaac sold 94 acres of land embracing IRON HILL in 1841 to David C. Wood, iron-master of Philadelphia. Joseph Ware DAvis is my G2 grandfather. He was the s/o John Davis [1800-1882] son of Abel Davis [c.1765-1847], b. MD who d. testate in White Co., IN. George and Ruth (Davis)Jamison had 4 children: Maude D., b.1880; Bertha Kathryn, b. 1883; Maruice Jamison and Ruth Jamison. I am aware of another link between the Jamison & Davis families.
